   TodayGerman does not require account registration. We collect only the minimum data needed to provide our services:

   • Downloaded content: Language packs (vocabulary words, native audio pronunciation, and images) are stored locally on your device for offline use.
   • App preferences: Your selected learning language, theme (light/dark/system), notification preferences, and bookmarked words are saved locally via Android SharedPreferences and the app's local database.
   • No personal data: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information.
2. Device Permissions & Internet Usage

   To provide core functionality, our mobile app requests the following device permissions:

   • Network & Internet (android.permission.INTERNET, android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Used only to check network connectivity, download language packs from todaygerman.com, and serve advertisements.
   • Foreground Services & Data Sync (android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC): Allows the app to reliably download and extract language pack data in the background with a progress notification. This service runs strictly while a user-initiated download is in progress and terminates upon completion, failure, or cancellation.
   • Notifications (android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to display download progress notifications and daily learning reminders. You can opt out at any time in device settings.
   • Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): Used by Google AdMob to serve relevant advertisements.
3. Advertising & Third-Party Services

   To keep TodayGerman free, we show banner ads and rewarded ads within the mobile app powered by Google AdMob. Google and its advertising partners may process non-personally identifiable information, including your device's advertising ID, general device specifications (model, OS, network type), coarse location derived from IP address (not precise GPS), and ad interaction data to serve, measure, and personalize ads.

4. Data Storage & Security

   Your learning progress, bookmarks, and preferences are stored locally on your device inside the application's private storage. We do not upload your personal learning data to any remote server. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data permanently.

   All communications between the app and our servers (todaygerman.com), as well as Google AdMob services, are encrypted in transit over secure HTTPS connections.

5. Your Choices & Data Control

   You maintain full control over your data and device settings:

   TodayGerman is intended for users aged 13 and older and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we collect no personal data, no special parental consent is required for standard use.
